bMighty/SBR Heads To National Small Business Week Conference
A little recognition can go a long way. And on a national level -- not to mention amid the economic recession -- that's exactly the kind of boost entrepreneurs across the country can use and expect when National Small Business Week kicks off on Sunday in our nation's capitol.
Yours truly will be in attendance; keep your browers here on SmallBizResource and sister site bMighty for my live coverage. (Free WiFi at the Cyber Café -- woo hoo!)
The three-day event, now in its 46th year, represents the Small Business Administration's 56th anniversary. So it's no surprise that Karen Mills will deliver the keynote on what will be her six-week anniversary serving as administrator. Her topic: small businesses' future and the SBA's vision.
The National Small Business Week schedule also includes a half-dozen awards events, including the naming of the National Small Business Person of the Year (as well as state- and district-level winners), National Small Business Champions (including young entrepreneur and home-based businessperson), and Entrepreneurial Developers (programs that benefit local small businesses).
In addition, plenty of time has been set aside for peer-to-peer networking and forums. Discussions include suitable business strategies for when times are tight (moderated by JJ Ramberg, host of MSNBC's "Your Business"), how technology is key to a small business' competitive edge (speakers hail from HP, Trend, and several end users), and how social media is transforming the way we do business (featuring Duct Tape Marketing's John Jantsch, Visa marketing head Alex Craddock, and GrowBiz Media CEO Rieva Lesonsky).
Other than the face-to-face meets and greets, all of Monday's and Tuesday's awards events and forums will be available via free, live webcasts.
