Moli: A New Way For Small Biz To Connect
I grew up in the Sunshine State, so it, um, warms my heart to talk about something new coming out of a South Florida-based business.
That something new is Moli.com's Small Business Center, an online resource that's "targeting small business owners who have something established and want to take it to the next level to free up their time and have a personal life," said Judy Balint, president and COO of West Palm Beach-based Moli, when we spoke about a week ago, in advance of today's launch.
Content comes at you in a variety of multimedia forms: articles, daily news feeds, recommended Web sites, podcasts, videos and forums in which you can weigh in, ask advice and provide your own how-to tips. Of note, access to the forums requires registration, a free, painless and quick process. But here's what I thought was really cool: Registration enables you to set up multiple profile pages, all available with the same logon but tailored for different purposes:
In other words, you have the ability to separate personal from private. Each type of profile comes with its own set of questions for you to answer (if you choose). You invite others to join the same way you're used to with LinkedIn or Facebook, plus you can set permissions to make your individual profiles visible to only those you choose. Again, a nice separation of church and state, and something I don't think the aforementioned social networking sites offer.
If you'd like to take a peek, send me an e-mail and I'll issue you a personal invitation. And you have my word: No preferential treatment for my fellow Floridians.
