A Way To Keep the Flames of Business Passion Alive
Pssst! Wanna join my MOOB Group?
OK, I haven't actually started one, considering I just stumbled upon the concept in this five-tip article about how to reignite your business passion. But given how isolating working from home can sometimes be, I like the idea.
MOOB is an acronym for Mind Our Own Business, and it's all about like-minded people banding together to discuss the ups and downs of running a business, to network, to share best practices, to feel connected. A MOOB group is really just another name for a peer group, which is really just a darn, good way of surrounding yourself with other motivated people, which is a really just great way to keep the fire lit under your own fanny.
A MOOB group can be live or virtual; free social-networking platforms like Ning make it a breeze to set up. (I know that because I created a network for my high school, now 1,100 alumni strong.) Whichever way works for you, here are 10 points to keep in mind if you want to start one, courtesy of Small Business Branding:
1) Decide what kind of group you want to start.
2) Choose members who have the same success values as the other members.
3) Choose how the meetings will be structured.
4) Insist on complete openness.
5) Don't charge.
6) Share in the value of discovered revenue streams.
7) Decide when to meet.
8) Decide who you don’t want in the group.
9) Decide what happens if there is conflict within your group.
10) Make it fun.
Let me know what you do to stay connected.
