10 Technologies To Run Your Business Better

Posted by Gayle Kesten Thursday, Feb 7, 2008, 12:08 PM ET

I know, I know -- these top 10 lists have become a dime a dozen. But I promise you this one doesn't disappoint.

That's because the compilation I found on BusinessWeek skips over all the highfaluten tech-speak, sheds light on two handfuls of reliable and worthwhile applications, and does so in such a light, humorous way that I read every word from start to finish.

No doubt these are technologies you have likely heard about, like desktop-sharing software, practically free conference calling and wireless connectivity. But the writer's colorful analogies bring them alive and help you better understand what they can do for your business.

By the way, the name of the writer is Gene Marks, a small-business owner who last month offered up 10 tech tools that didn't live up to their billing. Number 4 gets me off the hook for not posting yesterday.

Good, bad or ugly -- tell me your picks.
