When Justice Fails It Can Be Smelly
This is so way off topic I apologize upfront. But I'm just really peeved about a court decision I read about today. Sometimes there is no justice, or common sense, in our justice system.
Over a year ago former MIT professor John Donovan Sr. faked his own shooting allegedly planning to frame his own son, one of his children whom he's fighting in court over something.
Anyway the millionaire tech guru got sentenced to community service --a few hundred hours cleaning up walking trails and horse trails.
Meanwhile the Boston police spents hundreds of hours investigating the so-called attack and even more money in prosecuting him for the fake attack scenario.
He's got the money to pay back the city for all those costs and he should. A $625 fine doesn't cut it. Neither does raking up leaves and shoveling horse dung. Neither does the lenient two years of probation, as InformationWeek reports today.
Police in Cambridge and Boston prosecutors have a right to be pissed.
Maybe judges need systematic evaluations to make sure they haven't gone looney since their election or political appointment days.
