I Can Be Had For Just A Fin

Posted by Judy Mottl Friday, Dec 14, 2007, 01:39 PM ET

Ok I'm a complete hypocrite at times. There I was yesterday complaining about how consumers get sold a bill of goods with a savvy soft sell approach and I fell for it completely this morning.

I got this email today about a Cloudmark whitepaper on email filtering. [Disclaimer: The email came from LightReading, a CMP sister site]

Some smart marketing person also mentioned the words 'gift certificate' in the email subject header that made me click through to read the mail.

It seems if I register (for free! but before December 17th) to read the white paper they'll send me a $5 Starbucks gift card. I know, I know. Stop laughing ok. But hey it's Starbucks afterall. A cup of good coffee gets me further than $5 in gas these days.

Here's the link -- share it with friends ;) and to be honest, the white paper isn't a bad read. Keeping up with email security and understanding filtering can be pretty interesting right?
