Windows Home Server Rocks the House. And the Office.

Posted by Cora Nucci Friday, Nov 2, 2007, 11:19 AM ET

Demand for Microsoft Windows Home Server, released last month, is so strong that some distributors are having a hard time keeping it in stock.

Small businesses and home offices -- especially those with multiple PCs and heavy data assets such as image, video, and audio files, are Microsoft's target market. It's good reviews like this one from Gizmodo that are driving sales:

…having another computer in the house -- especially one that doesn't have a screen, a keyboard, or a mouse -- isn't something people are shoving each other in the face for. But when families take a good long look at what WHS can do, like automated, centralized daily backups, simplified remote access, storage expansion and network file sharing, they may just change their minds.

Security analyst Rob Enderle has been using WHS himself and reminds us that it's never too soon to back up business and family documents: "If you lose a drive or a single PC (like your laptop gets stolen), your critical stuff is safe at home."
