What I'm Thankful For This Season

Small business has a great deal to be thankful for this year: a decent economy, a healthy looking retail shopping season and lots of new innovations that promise to make business more efficient and prosperous.

And that’s exactly why I’m thankful for all those helping to spur new ideas and tools.

Companies such as Advanta Corp. which is the sponsor of ideablob, a program that fosters new business ideas by offering $10K to those deemed offering up the most interesting and worthy business idea each month. Launched in September, the contest winners are voted on by ideablob.com community. Check out October’s finalists. And take a gamble and pitch your own business idea in next month’s contest.

Then there’s DEMO, a well known venue for new products, technologies and companies. In its 16 years in existence DEMO has built a strong rep for finding and publicizing the latest and greatest products at conferences held twice a year. The event provides a platform for young and mature companies to announce products and services. Product presenters get just six minutes to make their pitch. The rewards can be magnificent given the audience includes 700 investors, corporate executives, technology strategists, early adopters, and media outlets.

Then there’s companies such as ProgrammerMeetDesigner.com which helps forge collaboration on products by matching programmers and designers seeking help on innovative projects.

So thanks to each and every company that keeps pushing innovation ahead, and most importantly, keeps opening new doors for SMBs with great ideas.
