Easing The Payroll Work Blues
Payroll is one of those vital admin tasks that can tax a small business with a hefty ongoing labor cost. But one vendor is pushing out a tool that eases the pain all around.
Intuit Online Payroll is a Web-based tool designed for start-ups and small businesses that doesn’t require the almighty QuickBooks connection.
Employers can get started easily and quickly by completing a simple one-time setup questionnaire. A checklist of required information, available prior to setup, tells employers the data they will need to supply before beginning.
After just entering employees’ hours, the software generates paychecks, as well as state and federal tax forms. Setup is easy with a one-time questionnaire and it even generates email alerts to remind bosses about compensation related tasks such as payroll tax payments, tracking and providing ready-to-print tax forms for federal filings and for many states as well. Employers can just print, sign and mail the form.
“We evaluated various payroll solutions but didn’t want to worry about dealing with additional personnel,” says Beth Bledsoe, owner of Santa Paula Glass Co. in Santa Paula, Calif. “Intuit Online Payroll makes it easy for me to access the program from anywhere and run the payroll myself with no additional help.”
“I was hesitant about hiring more employees because of the various federal reports, payroll terms and employee paper work,” said Chris Long, owner of Convective Designs in Dumfries, Va. “Intuit Online Payroll has eased the transition and made it easier for me to understand the federal tax policies and procedures.”
Not a bad little payroll package for about $30 a month.
