No Office Too Small

Posted by Cora Nucci Friday, Sep 21, 2007, 01:16 PM ET

Are you moaning -- again -- that you can't get any work done because your office is too darn small and cramped?

In the words of combative tennis champ John McEnroe, "you cannot be serious."

Marilyn Grabowski runs a 12-person paving business from a 40-square-foot area in the front of her bedroom's walk-in closet.

Here's how she saves space: "To limit clutter, I do almost everything on my laptop. I work on a $1,500 Dell Inspiron 9400 with a 17-inch screen (dell.com). My accounting system is totally paperless (QuickBooks Online Edition, quickbooks.intuit.com, $39.99 a month), and I manage the firm payroll electronically with PayCycle (paycycle.com, $50 a month)."

Grabowski's business pulled in $1.2 million in revenues last year.

Still think your office is too small?
