Going Green Where The Sun Don't Shine Much

Posted by Judy Mottl Monday, Sep 10, 2007, 09:46 AM ET

The BBC reports that researchers have built a completely 'green' research station that they plan to construct in Antartica.

Now this makes me wonder. Is it time to take the politics out of the environmental issues facing US business and put the researchers in charge?

I mean, not for nothing, but just take a quick look at the solar-powered, environmentally friendly living space that's been created. A SOLAR powered station in one of the world's coldest climates. After all Antarctica is the coldest, highest, windiest, driest, and iciest continent on earth.

And yet for some reason the US can't seem to get a handle on good and cost effective recycling programs that benefit business and the communities in which we live? If this doesn't prove that the technology exists to make the US greener than ever than I don't know what would.
