Back Up Made Easy
Backing up data is a headache for everyone, whether you've got five users or 5,000 because it's just one of those things you tend to push off and then cry about your procrastination once disaster strikes.
I know because I've been to data loss hell and back.
After a massive crash last summer, due to unknown reasons despite paying for hours of tech investigation, I paid alot more money to have a back-up system set up in my office.
If only I had known about a neat little product called FileKeeper Pro. Not only is it easy to use, and perfect for small business due to price point (about $30) and a nearly non-existent user learning curve, it's easy to put on desktops and laptops in play.
Yosemite Technologies' FileKeeper Professional provides a transparent and continuous file protection and version rollback software solution that eliminates a user having to manage the data or backup processes.
The tool uses near Continuous Data Protection (CDP) technology (aka file-based CDP) to protect irreplaceable data as it is created (or modified) and saved. It transparently stores file versions to one or more safe storage locations. File versions are automatically stored in a repository on disk inside a computer (in a hidden directory on any existing partition), allowing for the recovery of a file or version, even when the computer is not connected to external storage.
Only the bytes that have changed in a new version are stored, providing efficient use of disk space. The files and changes can also be automatically copied to a secure storage location on a USB hard disk drive (even a USB flash drive) or networked storage when itıs connected. The files are stored and optionally encrypted in directories specific to the individual laptop/desktop.
What this means is if that laptop goes missing or crashes the data is safe and always available even. That's alot of peace of mind in my opinion.
What I like most is that it protects commonly-used files no matter where the files are located--so no search and selecting to back-up specific files. It just happens as you work.
Since file recovery or version rollback is via right-click menus there's basically little learning curve in restoring precious data.
Initial deployment and setup is 100% wizard driven--perfect for the SMB user with little tech support or the IT person supporting a dozen users on their own.
