What's In Your Pocket?

Posted by Judy Mottl Wednesday, Aug 29, 2007, 05:42 AM ET

It seems the BlackBerry is still the king with users in the big enterprise despite the increasing wave of competitors--a list that includes Nokia, Motorola, and Samsung--introducing new handy communication devices into the market.

So, of course, this got me thinking: What's the favored smartphone or PDA in the smaller business environment?

It seems Research In Motion's BlackBerry hasn't lost much traction in the marketplace despite pundit predictions that new "converged" technology devices, providig both cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity, would increase competitive pressure.

A new survey on BlackBerry dominance also offers up another interesting adoption tidbit--it seems while 60% of large enterprises deploy smartphones, not everyone is getting one. They're being handed out to executives, sales and tech workers.

So what, if any, handheld communication device are you using or deploying to staff these days? Are you a CrackBerry addict? Is the smartphone a necessary tool for small business these days?
